Like most theaters, Regal does not allow patrons to bring in outside food and drinks.
But that doesn’t deter patrons who surreptitiously hide their own snacks in purses and bags to avoid buying expensive sodas and popcorn at the multiplex.
Can you take food into the cinema?
While hot food and alcohol are banned, there are no restrictions on bringing cold food into a Cineworld cinema. It’s the same story with cinemas owned by Vue. The company’s website says: ‘We allow food from outside to be eaten in our cinemas with the exception of hot food or alcohol.’
Can you take your own food into Odeon cinema?
According to Cineworld’s website, there are “no restrictions” on bringing in cold food – so your sweets are actually safe. Odeon has a similar policy: “You can bring your own food/drink as long as it’s not hot or alcoholic.”
Why can’t you bring food into a movie theater?
So as long as you are respectful and clean up after yourself, it is okay to sneak food into a theater. Most theaters do not make their money from ticket sales. They make money from selling the food and drinks. As a result, they don’t want you bringing your own food and drinks in.
